The Skull
Acrylic on board and wood - 28 × 33 cm
This piece is painted on a found object, giving the work a previous life before the image was added. I am interested in objects that carry memory and history, and in painting images that feel like relics or artefacts rather than illustrations. The skull appears often in my work as a symbol of memory and the passage of generations, while the hand-painted frame and surface pattern turn the piece into a small devotional object.
Part of an ongoing studio practice shaped by folk art, storytelling, pattern and decorative traditions.
Thanks for taking a look at this project
